Updated May 16, 2022. For those needing a pick-me-up after a night (or day) of drinking, we’ve gathered a comprehensive list of hangover-friendly burgers throughout Northern Virginia. No thank yous needed.

The Hot Mess

While it doesn’t have a typical name, The Hot Mess from Del Ray-based Holy Cow will definitely do the trick for your groggy head, as it features a natural beef patty with Gouda, bacon, macaroni and cheese, crispy onions, and sriracha aioli on a brioche bun. Holy Cow: 2312 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria

The Brunch Burger

Sunday morning calls for brunch, but sometimes you need something more than just eggs and bacon. At Big Buns Damn Good Burger Co., find a fried egg atop Angus beef, pimento cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, pickles, and the unique finishing touch, apple butter. Big Buns Damn Good Burger Co.: 4401 Wilson Blvd., Arlington & 4251 Campbell Ave., Arlington

All-Nighter

For the morning after, we tend to need a jump-start to increase our energy. With the All-Nighter from Bar Louie, boasting a sunny side up egg, house-made spicy candied bacon, white cheddar, and garlic aioli, you’ll get just that. Bar Louie: locations vary

Sunrise

From three locations in Northern Virginia, The Burger Shack is serving up the perfect beef-centered breakfast. With the Sunrise option, you’ll get a burger paired with egg, bacon, cheddar, and Thousand Island dressing wedged between Texas toast. The Burger Shack: locations vary

Brunch Burger

The classic bacon, egg, and cheese gets a meaty twist with the Brunch Burger from Fairfax-based Artie’s, featuring applewood-smoked bacon, American cheese, a fried egg, and the restaurant’s signature wicked sauce. Artie’s: 3260 Old Lee Hwy., Fairfax

The Hangover

Simple and to the point, The Hangover from burger chain Fuddruckers will fill your heart with joy thanks to smokehouse bacon, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg. Fuddruckers: 1400 Foulger Sq., Woodbridge & 44036 Pipeline Plz., Ashburn

Hangover Burger

While most hangover-friendly burgers are topped with bacon, this one from Preston’s Pub features a sausage patty instead, paired with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a fried egg. Still craving more food? Don’t worry, this meal comes with your choice of sides, including house-made, beer-battered French fries. Preston’s Pub: 9103 Andrew Dr., Manassas

Hangover Burger

Fredericksburg residents surviving the morning after will delight in Sedona Taphouse’s wagyu beef Hangover Burger, as it’s topped with American cheese, bacon, an over-easy egg, house-made special sauce, and caramelized onions. What’s more? It’s served in a warmed, crispy potato bun. Sedona Taphouse: 591 William St., Fredericksburg

Hangover

While it primarily serves tacos, burritos, and other Mexican-inspired fare, Austin Grill has specialty burgers on the lunch menu too. Among them is the Hangover, featuring a combination of spice-filled items like Texas chili, chile con queso, bacon, onion straws, roasted peppers, and a fried egg. Austin Grill: 8430-A Old Keene Mill Rd., Springfield

Bacon-Stuffed Gouda Burger

Anything with bacon is good, and anything with cheese is better. So put the two together and you’re sure to find something special. This signature burger from Park Lane Tavern is made of a ground burger stuffed with bacon and Gouda cheese, then topped with cheddar, crispy applewood-smoked bacon, fried onion, and a barbecue aioli on a brioche bun. Park Lane Tavern: 1 Towne Centre Blvd., Fredericksburg
