Clarendon Ballroom—a longtime staple to nightlife in the Clarendon neighborhood—will be closing its doors after one last New Year’s Eve Bash.

The announcement was made Wednesday night via all three social media platforms, giving thanks to the local community and outlining three days worth of special events prior to the final affair on Dec. 31. As soon as news began to spread on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, loyal customers have shared stories of Bar Mitzvahs, wedding ceremonies and numerous meet-cutes that led to marriage.

On any given weekend night, one could see bright lights and dancers galore from inside the Ballroom, as it was known for its live music, nightclub atmosphere, rooftop and ability to host private events.

When asked to comment on the upcoming closure, an employee stated: “We’ve said as much as we are going to say currently. Right now, we are just going to focus on business and will probably have more to say later.”

Here, we share how longtime Arlingtonians and NoVA residents alike are reacting to the recent news.

End of an era.

My wife @berkeyrachel and I had our first date at the Clarendon Ballroom rooftop. Times are a changin’. Clarendon Grill, Mr. Days, Hard Times, no more. At least we still have…the Cheesecake Factory?
