While the older generations of sports fanatics looked up to legends like Larry Bird and Michael Jordan, kids these days have Kevin Durant on the brain. The Golden State Warriors star, who grew up in Prince George’s County in Maryland, is a two-time NBA champion and a NBA Finals MVP.

And now, Northern Virginia kids can train like Durant locally, and learn from his youth basketball organization, as he has partnered with The St. James to launch Team Durant, a new basketball academy available at the Springfield wellness center. The program is led by Durant’s father, Wayne Pratt.

Team Durant offers basketball development at all levels through clinics and tournaments hosted by Durant, as well as specialized basketball technology (like Dr. Dish shooting machines and the Noah Basketball analytics system). Basketball players also have access to the The St. James’ training center for strength training and on-site sports medicine care.

The program will feature teams for both boys and girls, at the U9 to U17 levels. Team Durant is also a member of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League, and will continue its partnership with Nike at The St. James.
