Filling your home, apartment or garden with flowers and vines has been on trend every spring, but this year, it’s time to take it to the next level. The Rosslyn Blooms! Flower Festival will celebrate all things floral-related by “flower bombing” the Central Place Plaza in Arlington on Saturday, May 11.
Starting at 10 a.m., the festival will host paid adult workshops and free kid workshops, ranging in topics from floral watercolor paintings to DIY succulent felting. Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a pop-up cafe, live music and local vendors ready to promote beautiful blooms and send you home with some potted plants of your own.
If you’re in the market for a Mother’s Day gift that keeps on giving, floral arrangements will be available for purchase, ranging in price from $30 to $80. Local florists will also be on site to discuss your upcoming special event and wedding needs.
You can even create your own arrangement at the BYOB (Build Your Own Bouquet) Bar throughout the day, and take a stop by the “impossible to kill” table, where those without green thumbs can find a strong, independent plant of their own.
Adult workshops will be held by Revery Paper Flora, Painted Palettes, Rock Paper Pant and She Loves Me, and require pre-registration payment online for $20 to $30 per person. Both of the kid-focused workshops are designed for ages 8- to 12-year-olds and should also be pre-registered online (at no cost, just for class-size purposes) and will be hosted by The Lemon Collective, a creative workshop space in Washington, DC.
