It’s officially March, and around the region that means one thing: cherry blossom season. With the National Cherry Blossom Festival right around the corner (March 20-April 13), we’ve all got pink flowers on the mind.

Carpe DC Food Tours is celebrating the season by expanding its operations into Alexandria with the second annual Tastes of Spring Cherry Blossom Food Crawl, held in partnership with the National Cherry Blossom Festival.

It’s an official, self-guided culinary excursion, and this is the first time it is being offered outside of the District lines. Guests can still choose the Penn Quarter option, which gives the option of tastings at 10 local restaurants in the DC neighborhood.

The second option (and the one we’re most excited about it) is the Alexandria Tastes of Spring Cherry Blossom Food Crawl. It is serving as the company’s kick-off to its new Boutique Old Town Food Tour.

Taste the flavors at 10 different restaurants around Old Town, including Hen Quarter, Union Pub and Blueprint Chocolate, while learning more about the role Alexandria played in the Revolutionary War and the civil rights movement.

The official Tastes of Spring Cherry Blossom Food crawl is available on March 30 for the Penn Quarter tour, and April 6 for the Alexandria tour. Tickets start at $80 for six tasting tickets and $96 for eight tasting tickets. Guests can exchange one ticket for a tasting at each of the participating locations.

Guests may visit restaurants in any order they choose during set crawl hours. At check-in, guests will receive a special wristband, tickets and a “passport” with a map to redeem tapas-sized tastings at each restaurant.
