Funds raised from international tourists breaks Virginia records; DMV wait times increase due to issuing of REAL ID licenses

In 2017, Virginia brought in $1.9 billion in funds from 1.1 million international tourists, the fastest rate of growth compared to other parts of the country.

During the first 10 days of offering the REAL ID compliant licenses, which allows individuals to access federal buildings, military installations and domestic flights, more than 16,000 were issued. Of the top 10 REAL ID pickup places, nine are in Northern Virginia.

After kicking off this week, the Town of Herndon’s Department of Public Works will pick up leaves for parts of the area each week through Dec. 14. Resident are asked to rake leaves to the curb but keep them out of storm drains, off sidewalks and away from mailboxes.
