More residences planned for Innovation Center
A vacant 66-acre lot on the south end of what will become Innovation Center Metro is going to hold 328 residential units—228 single family homes and 100 multifamily units. Kettler, the McLean-based developer of the land, also has plans to add a 40-acre park. There are already plans for more than 1,000 new homes and mixed-use projects at Innovation Center Metro, which has an estimated opening in 2020.
Cameron Park moves forward
Cameron Park is moving into the final stages of completion under the helm of Novare Group and Mulberry Development Group. The $103 million project at 430 S. Pickett St. will house 302 units and 21,000 square feet of ground retail with courtyards, fitness center, yoga room and more. Once completed, which is expected in 2020, there will be a mix of housing types and possibly a senior living facility.
Parking lots change to homes and retail
Earlier this summer, the Alexandria City Council agreed to sell parking lots on King and South Henry streets in order for them to be turned into residential and retail spaces. The lots were valued at $5.3 million and sold to Galena Capital Partners. Plans for the lots call for 52 multifamily units, 150 parking spaces and ground-floor retail.
Westbranch Drive gets residences and a public park
The Hanover Co., a Houston-based developer, has proposed turning an old office building in Tysons into a residential space with 400 units and a 1-acre public park. Plans also call for some ground-floor retail to take over the current vacant building that is just over a half-mile from a metro station.
Scotts Run development starts next year
Cityline Partners has big plans for the Scotts Run South area of Tysons, and Skanska USA Commercial Development is getting in on the action as it has acquired vacant land in the area and plans to build 350 apartment units with ground-floor retail and central public plaza. The plot of land sits at Route 123 and Colshire Drive. Plans are to start construction in mid- to late 2019 with a tentative opening of 2022.
