The focus is on nature at this summer camp, founded in 1963 on a 500-acre plot in the Appalachian Mountains in Capon Bridge, West Virginia. Staffers interweave exploration of the natural world with games, song, story, arts, hiking and swimming. Roaming the fields, forest, stream and pond, campers learn plant, animal and earth science, participate in overnight trips and pursue their interests. Mornings are for workshops and projects. Each afternoon brings hiking, arts and other activities. And evening programs wrap up with small-group options or whole-group gatherings.
