BASIS Independent Summer offers a variety of academically focused camps that are taught by BASIS Independent McLean faculty. This summer, campers can participate in science exploration, a past favorite of campers, where students deepen their understanding of scientific concepts by working on group-based projects building gliders and making ice cream using liquid nitrogen. Also returning are English enrichment courses, this time with a deep dive into dystopian writing from the world of Ready Player One and a social justice camp that focuses on modern-day society, including analysis of works by author Ta-Nehisi Coates. New this year is forensic chemistry and French immersion. Rising kindergarten to second-grade students will enjoy full-day camps exploring ooey gooey science, aquatic life, all-star sports and cheerleading. And middle schoolers have a chance to bolster their academic performance by focusing on necessary skills for a successful middle school career.

Age Range: 4-17 years old
Camp Dates: July 16-Aug. 10
Sessions: Half day and full day, weekly, day camp
Registration: $375-$495; basisindependent.com
