Restaurants are there for your birthday, for a celebration, for a solo escape—and always to serve the community. It’s no surprise area restaurants initiated fundraisers to support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

Here are some of the ways the local hospitality industry is sending funds to Houston:

• All Mike Isabella Concepts restaurants, including the VA-based Kapnos Taverna, Pepita, Requin and Yona, will donate $1 for every cocktail sold (through Friday).

• Taco Bamba (Falls Church and Vienna) will donate proceeds from a special brisket taco (beginning Saturday), and its owner Victor Albisu is traveling to Houston to help cook and distribute food.

• Jose Andres, who founded World Central Kitchen after the earthquake in Haiti, is already in Houston cooking.

• Purcellville’s Doukenie Winery will match all proceeds from its tastings through Sept. 4 to send to the American Red Cross.

• In D.C., there’s a fundraising effort to send $25,000 to the American Red Cross, with DC Brau Brewing Co. donating 100 percent of its tasting room proceeds from this Saturday.

• Texas-themed Hill Country Barbecue is planning a fundraiser on Friday in D.C.

• A forthcoming promotion #DineOut4Houston is in the works from some of the region’s biggest restaurant groups.

• Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington is also tracking fundraising efforts, including the dollar-match program from the Black’s Family Foundation (restaurants in D.C. and Maryland).
