In 2016, more than 21,000 homes were sold in Northern Virginia, 4.58 percent more than 2015.
“2016 had another strong showing with increased dollar volume, average and median sold prices,” said Ann Yanagihara, principal broker of Hana Associates in Alexandria and a 2017 NVAR Board, member in a press release sent out by The Northern Virginia Association of Realtors. “It just goes to show that in Northern Virginia, we are fortunate to live in one of the most dynamic and exciting real estate markets.”
While higher home sales are great for the region, the ones we love to take a peek at are those homes that have gone for the highest price. Here is the most expensive home sold in Northern Virginia in 2016:
Sold at the beginning of the year, this house on Ballantrae Lane in McLean sold for $7,150,000. Listed by Pamela Yerks of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty, the colonial-style home has six bedrooms, eight full and five half-baths and sits on a 1-acre lot.
This was the third-highest home sale in the Metro-D.C. region for 2016. The top two most expensive home sales came from Northwest D.C.
