The local accessories chain is getting in on the membership box trend. With the first boxes going out in October, lou lou boutique, which opened its first brick-and-mortar store in Middleburg in 2004 and has since expanded to 28 locales, is offering clients an easy way to get styled.

Much like other membership retail services, each month on the 15th you will receive a box with up to three pieces that retail for $55+ for a membership price of $39. Stylists who have worked in the boutiques create the boxes based on preferences you fill out upon signing up: First, choose from a basic style trend you are coveting (weekend, modern, romantic, classic, glamour, boho, rocker, sporty or trendy); then check off a niche style (delicate, eclectic, layered, etc.) you want to focus on. Next, choose a color scheme you are into and the types of pieces you want to add to your wardrobe (handbags, jewelry, scarves, hats, watches, etc.). The stylists will then pull from the brands and styles you can find in the brick-and-mortar stores and from the exclusive colors and styles the chain carries online and in their warehouse: TDW, Madison, Theia, Foundry, Reverie and Sweet Simplicity. Shipping and returns are free, and you can cancel at any time. Gift options are also available in one- and three-month nonrecurring sessions.

For those who shop at the boutiques in Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Reston, Leesburg or Middleburg, you may wonder why you should sign up. Stefanie Shaffer, director of marketing at lou lou, says this is a way for loyal customers to see things they may not see in the different stores, it offers convenience and the expertise of a stylist, and there are surprises along the way.
