Destination: Located on Loudoun Street in the midst of some of our favorite local boutiques, The Jeans Whisperer blends in perfectly with the comfortable, small-town atmosphere of historic Leesburg.
Atmosphere: The store is housed in a converted residence from the 1800s, which lends it a warm and inviting feel. “The outdoor porch draws in customers with mannequins dressed in current fashions surrounded by flowering pots,” says owner Jan Forman. “A life-size porcelain sheep named Dolly greets customers at the front door.”
Bread and Butter: Customers are guaranteed to find designer jeans. “We carry many different brands, [and] we pick for fit, fabric, flair and reasonable pricing. We love to help women find the most flattering fit for their unique shape and style,” says Forman. The store also carries pieces from local designers such as Cindy Bapst of Union of Angels, who is known for fun pieces with a bohemian flair.
Sweet Surprises: Next month Forman will begin selling her own line of T-shirts, dresses, tops and jackets for the fall called Jeans Whisperer Couture. Shoppers can also find a unique selection of jewelry from across the world.
Fiercest Fan: “Our customers range in age from 18 to 75. We have many mothers and daughters who shop together [here],” says Forman. Customers who enjoy personal interactions and attentiveness enjoy shopping at this friendly boutique.
Blows to Budget: Between $75 and $135 for jeans, $65-$190 for dresses, $35-$125 for tops and an average of $250 for Dan Post cowboy boots. –Angela Bobo
