Run, run as fast as you can—StageCoach Theatre Company presents “The Gingerbread Chase” at Oatlands Plantation this weekend. Children will love this interactive performance featuring an original script by local playwright DeDe Le.
“The Gingerbread Chase” tells the tale of a newly baked gingerbread cookie who feels plain among the many ornamented and frosted treats in the bakery. In this twist on the classic tale, kids will interact with the cast as the ginger cookie embarks on a journey away from home. The performance is full of surprises and will eventually answer the question: Is it what’s inside or what’s outside that matters most?
Characters in this show include the elusive gingerbread cookie, a baker and his wife, a detective, a pig who is a mailman and, of course, Santa Claus. After the show, a special guest will be on site to meet children and take photos. The play will be shown at the Carriage House at Oatlands and will run about an hour long with no intermission.
The script for this performance comes from NoVA playwright DeDe Le. She is one of several local talents to have been featured by StageCoach Theatre Company. Based in Loudoun County, StageCoach Theatre Company began in 2011 with a mission to promote local talent in local venues. Owners Jerri Wiseman and Terry Smith have over 30 years of combined experience in the theater industry and are always looking out for new talent.
“Every script that is sent is guaranteed to be read,” says Wiseman, who runs the business full time.
StageCoach Theatre Company puts on three types of performances year-round: murder mysteries, cabarets or musical performances, and children’s shows. “The Gingerbread Chase” is one of StageCoach Theatre Company’s children’s shows and the company’s fourth Christmas performance at Oatlands.
