What happens when you combine an unlimited number of Lego bricks with Boy Scout Troop 39? The answer: A high school gymnasium full of Lego creations. This year marks the 2nd Annual Scouting for Bricks at Heritage High School in Leesburg on May 3 & 4 for $5.

Scouting for Bricks is a celebration of Legos. There will be an incredible number of Legos provided by exhibitors and custom Lego blocks sold by Northern Virginia vendors. Event goers can watch robots battle in an arena, see various Lego creations, and even pose for pictures with the 501 Stormtrooper Garrison, who are spending their unofficial Star Wars holiday “May the Fourth” at the convention.

In it’s inaugural year in 2013, Scouting for Bricks saw 2,500 people in attendance, seeing all the imaginative ways Legos could be assembled. Troop 39 is confident that this year’s Scouting for Bricks will stack up to last years, especially with the popularity surge that came along with the building-blockbuster, The Lego Movie. The event will also have a float for the Hamilton Day Parade.

In 2013, the newly formed Troop 39 was in need of a new fundraiser. They needed something fresher than that popcorn scouts often sell outside of grocery stores. They found a solution in Legos. A large amount of the scouts in Troop 39 were really into Legos, attending events like Brickfair, so the idea for their own Lego convention just snapped together.
