You don’t have to sacrifice your love of pickleball during the winter months. Here are seven indoor options to try.

By Kate Oczypok January 17, 2024 at 8:27 am

When the weather is cold or you just would rather stay inside, there are places where you can go to play pickleball. These indoor pickleball courts will keep you on your feet and active throughout these frigid winter months.

Carver Community Center

This community center in Arlington offers drop-in pickleball. Thursday evenings are pickleball nights from 6 to 8:45 p.m. on three courts. 1415 S. Queen St., Arlington

Jim Scott Community Center

The Jim Scott Community Center (formerly Providence Community Center) offers pickleball, along with other gym sports like basketball and volleyball. You can take the whole family to the center, as it offers teen programming and special arts and crafts nights and cultural celebrations. 3001 Vaden Dr., Fairfax

Lubber Run Community Center

Lubber Run Community Center offers indoor pickleball courts. During the winter months, Friday morning drop-in pickleball is 7 to 10:45 a.m. to help accommodate the on-site preschool. 300 N. Park Dr., Arlington

Pickleballerz

Indoor pickleball at Pickleballerz allows guests to play all year, on six indoor, climate-controlled courts. The facility offers lessons and has leagues. There’s a party room, if you want to host a pickleball party. 14424 Albemarle Point Pl., Chantilly

The Fieldhouse

You can drop in, get a monthly membership, or opt for a 10- or 2-punch card membership to play pickleball. Drop-in times are from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. Times on the weekend vary. A monthly membership gives you access to treadmills, free weights, and bikes. 14810 Murdock St., Chantilly

The St. James

The St. James offers a pickleball club at its Springfield location Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until noon. Play in the Court House is first come, first served. Pickleball at the Reston location is closed for the winter season and will reopen come spring. 6805 Industrial Rd., Springfield

YMCA Fairfax County Reston

The YMCA in Reston has two indoor courts with permanent lines. You do need to join the Y to use the courts. 12196 Sunset Hills Rd., Reston
