End the work week with a quick outdoor yoga session, 10K, or dance class.

By Michele Kettner May 18, 2021 at 10:27 am

With the weather forecast for the weekend giving off a preview of the season ahead, it’s the perfect time to take your workout outdoors. From yoga with a view to a run through the park, these are the six fitness activities you should join during this beautiful early-summer weekend.

Sunset Yoga

Thursday, 8-9 p.m.
Head to the terrace for some relaxation and a killer view of the sunset. The class is open to yogis of all levels, combining strength and fitness for a deeper stretch and sense of relaxation. Once the sun goes down, refresh with a complimentary glass of sangria. // The Sangria Bowl: 305 S. Main St., Ste. 200, Culpeper; $20

Fountainhead Half Marathon/10K Trail Running Race

Saturday & Sunday, 7 a.m.-noon
Take your run to the trees. The 10K and half-marathon courses weave you throughout the park with stunning views of the Occoquan River along the way. With an in-person and virtual race available, runners have the option to run at the park or on their favorite trail. // Fountainhead Regional Park: 10875 Hampton Rd., Fairfax Station; $45-$87.50

Rosslyn Living. No Sweat!

Saturday, 12:30-1:15 p.m.
The Rosslyn Heights apartment community is offering a free spin class. The first-come, first-serve class will be held outdoors on the pool deck of the building. After your ride, enjoy a free post-spin acai bowl and learn about the community. // 1800 N. Quinn St., Arlington; free

Shake What Your Mama Gave You

Saturday, 10:30 a.m-12:30 p.m.
It’s time to dance like no one’s watching. Sign up for the dance class, held by former Wizards dancer Christie Horan, to show off your moves. The hip-hop 101 session is a chance to try out some new moves for your next dance outing. // 1900 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria; free

Goat Yoga at the Tiny House in Purcellville

Saturday & Sunday, times vary
Get in some much-needed cuddle time with the goats of Walnut Creek Farm. Classes are a hybrid of seated yoga stretches and guided meditation; complete yours with the help of these furry friends. Afterward, get those cute selfies and personal time with the beloved goats. // Tiny House: Purcellville; $40

Free BASH Boxing Pop Up Workout

Sunday, 10-11 a.m.
Go for an uptempo workout this weekend, compliments of a local collaboration. Try the high-intensity boxing workout of BASH with the beautiful views of the brewery. Held by founding senior coach Brandi, no experience is necessary as you work to build muscle and sweat off those calories.  // Lost Barrel Brewing: 36138 John Mosby Hwy., Middleburg; free
