By Michele Kettner April 27, 2021 at 2:52 pm

With May right around the corner, the outdoor workouts are making a comeback around the region. Whether you want to run a 5K at your favorite park or bird-watch on the water, these are the outdoor fitness events to join for a healthy weekend.

Healthy Strides 5K/10K: Virtual

Saturday
No need to wake up early for this one. The virtual race allows you to run or walk wherever you feel most comfortable. From treadmills to park trails, just create the best sidewalk chalk start and finish line to be entered to win additional prizes. // $25

Spring Bloom Adventure Race

Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
If you love being outdoors, then this is the event for you. This adventure race combines running, biking, and paddling for a 13-to-19-mile race through the park. Whether running solo or with a team, the inaugural race will challenge adventurers to find the shortest path with their map to get to the finish line first.  // Silver Lake Regional Park: 16198 Silver Lake Rd., Haymarket; $105

ZUMBA de MAYO @ The Rhino!

Saturday, 11 a.m.-noon
Start off your weekend with a Saturday full of dance. Sweat it out as you bust a groove with the ZUMBA community. After you dance it out, stop by the brewery to grab your free beer and to party at the early Cinco de Mayo celebration. // Lost Rhino Brewing Co.: 21730 Red Rum Dr., Ste. 142, Ashburn; $14

Birds of Prey Kayak Paddle

Saturday, noon-2:30 p.m.
As the birds head north for the warm summer weather, get a water view of these predators. Hop into the kayak and join a naturalist for this raptor-themed kayak tour. For two hours, you’ll enjoy the sights as you observe the bald eagles, osprey, and other wildlife of the bay.  // Pohick Bay Regional Park: 6501 Pohick Bay Dr., Lorton; $35

2021 Hopecam Virtual 5K

Saturday through May 10
Lace up your shoes to support a good cause. When you join this race, you have the option to run, walk, wheel, or bike to the finish line to help support kids with cancer. At-home runners will receive a commemorative race shirt, medal, and Hopecam swag. // $20-$40
