5 outdoor fitness activities to join this weekend

Whether you want to take in the bluebells or practice your vinyasas with a view, opt outside with these events.

With winter and the cold finally in the rearview mirror, you can finally start taking in those beautiful spring days on a consistent basis. From outdoor yoga to a history hike in the park, these are the five fitness activities to try this weekend.

Beauty of Bluebells Walk

Friday, 10-11:30 a.m.
Take it easy this weekend by starting off with a scenic stroll along the trail. With the bluebells about to hit peak bloom, walk the trail as you learn about the state’s famous flower.  // Bull Run Regional Park: 7700 Bull Run Dr., Centreville; $5

Yoga & Beer at Fair Winds Brewing Co.

Saturday, 9:30-11 a.m.
Pack up your yoga mat and head over to the brewery. After months indoors, enjoy the fresh air with a vinyasa flow class on the open-air patio. After you stretch it out, enjoy a refreshing craft beer with your fellow yogis. // 7000 Newington Rd., Ste. K & L, Lorton; $25

Yoga on the Magnolia Terrace

Saturday, 10-11 a.m.
Enjoy the beautiful spring scenery at your next yoga session. Make your way up to the terrace for an hour-long vinyasa flow yoga class. From sun salutations to deep stretching, yogis will definitely feel refreshed and relaxed at the end of the class. // Carlyle House Historic Park: 121 N. Fairfax St., Alexandria; $10-$40

History Hikes: Duel in Arlington

Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon
Combine history and fitness at this educational event. Hikers will learn about the 19th century duel between Henry Clay and John Randolph and how political fighting turned violent. Those in attendance will walk the same path on the 195th anniversary of the fight. // Fort Ethan Allen Park: 3829 N. Stafford St., Arlington; free

Wetland at Dusk Walk

Saturday, 7:15 p.m.
Skip movie night and enjoy a leisurely nature walk instead. Join a park naturalist to learn about the different wildlife in the forest and wetlands of the park as the sun goes down. Much of the local fauna will be settling in for the night and waking up, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for a quick peek. // Huntley Meadows Park: 3701 Lockheed Blvd., Alexandria; $10
