10 in-person and virtual workout events happening through the weekend

From virtual yoga classes to an adult field day, get in your workout this week with one of these fun events.

The end of August is finally here. Before the leaves start to change colors and temperatures start to drop, enjoy the summer warmth by taking your workout outdoors. Whether you join a social distance yoga class or take your computer to your backyard for Zumba, here are 10 in-person and virtual workout events to try out this week.

Cool Yoga 2020

Wednesday, Aug. 26, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Join Cool Yoga for its last free, outdoor yoga class of the summer. This class is suitable for all levels; just bring your mat and distance yourself for a fun night of vinyasas. // Cool Yoga: 1900 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria; free

Beginners Yoga

Wednesday, Aug. 26, 7-8 p.m.
Celebrate hump day with a much needed yoga class. Enjoy an hour of relaxation and meditation from the comfort of your living room. A Zoom link will be sent out after the payment is made. // $15

Historic Downtown Walking Tours

Thursday, Aug. 27, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
If working out seems like a hassle, sneak in some exercise with a walking tour. Walk around Historic Downtown Manassas as you learn about the history of the city, its buildings and its former residents. // City of Manassas: 9101 Prince William St., Manassas; $5

Zumba at The Craft of Brewing

Thursday, Aug. 27, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Put on your dancing shoes for an evening of outdoor Zumba. This class will feature both fast and slow rhythms, perfect for experienced participants and beginners. Vinyasa & Vino

Friday, Aug. 28, 6-7 p.m.
Celebrate the start of the weekend with a little yoga and wine. Enjoy an hour-long vinyasa flow class that can challenge even the most experienced yogi. After the class, reward yourself with a glass of wine during the post-yoga social hour. // Vint Hill Yoga: 7154 Farm Station Road, Warrenton; $20

Gong Medicine Meditation

Friday, Aug. 28, 7:30-9 p.m.
Restore your body this Friday night with a virtual gong bath. This ancient Chinese practice uses the vibrations of the gong to leave participants balanced, peaceful and light. // $30-$35

Stafford Hospital Foundation Cabin Fever 5K

Friday, Aug. 28 through Sunday, Aug. 30, times vary
If your cabin fever is at an all-time high, get out of the house and support the Stafford Hospital with a 5K run. This virtual race allows you to draw out your own path as you walk or run your 5K. Proceeds from the event help fund Stafford Hospital’s services, equipment and programs. // $15-$30

2nd Annual Adult Field Day with Fieldhouse

Saturday, Aug. 29, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
The best part about school as a kid was always the end-of-the-year field day. Relive that memory as an adult with this second annual adult field day. After a morning full of games and competition, enjoy some drinks on the pavilion. S’more Fun 5k

Saturday, Aug. 29, 6-8 p.m.
Get in one last fun run with the family before you dive into the school year with the S’more Fun 5K. Enjoy a leisurely evening run or walk around the park, then end the night with some delicious and gooey s’mores. To ensure social distancing, the start line will have increased space and mini fire pits will be placed at each picnic table. // Bull Run Regional Park: 7700 Bull Run Drive, Centreville; $20-$35

2020 Burke Lake 5k & 10k

Sunday, Aug. 30, 7:30-10:30 a.m.
Rise and shine for a morning run around Burke Lake Park. After starting with your max 50-person wave, take in the views of the park as you run either a 5K or 10K. Proceeds from the event benefit The Arc of Northern Virginia. // Burke Lake Park: 7315 Ox Road, Springfield; $12-$45
