10 fitness classes and activities to attend this weekend

Whether you are looking for an intense workout or a stroll outdoors, these classes and activities will help you get in your weekend workout.

We have officially hit the dog days of summer in the DMV. With temperatures hitting the 90s this weekend, make sure to stay hydrated and safe during your weekend workouts. Whether you decide to brave the heat or stay cool indoors, here are 10 fitness classes and activities to try out this weekend.

Friday’s in July Water Yoga in Middleburg
Friday, July 24, 9:30-10:30 a.m. for adults, 10:30-11 a.m. for children
Stay cool in the scorching heat with a quick water yoga class. This low-impact exercise is perfect for those with joint pain or are recovering from injuries. Advanced registration is required. // Middleburg Community-Center: 300 W. Washington St., Middleburg; $10-$20

Bird Walk 
Saturday, July 25, 7-9 a.m.
Put on your hiking boots and grab your binoculars for some bird-watching. Enjoy a 1- to 2-mile hike around the institute as you try to catch a peek of the state’s beautiful birds. // The Clifton Institute: 6712 Blantyre Road, Warrenton; free

Loudoun Street Mile
Saturday, July 25, 8 a.m.
Take part in the 33rd annual Loudoun Street Mile. Run the 1-mile course down Loudoun Street for a chance to win prizes. This year, the race will be run in waves to ensure proper social distancing. Registration will close on Friday, July 24 at 6 p.m. // 135 N. Loudoun St., Winchester; $10-$25

Yoga 101 
Saturday, July 25, 9 a.m.
If your stress levels are at an all-time high, now is the perfect time to try out some yoga. Stop by the Carlyle House to learn some basic poses under the sun in this introductory class. Reservations are required. // Carlyle House Historic Park: 121 N. Fairfax St., Alexandria; free

Rappahannock Fall Line Tour – City Dock Paddle
Saturday, July 25, 9:45 a.m.-noon
Get in your weekend workout with a fun kayak tour of the Rappahannock River. As you paddle down the water, learn about the history of the fall line, the surrounding towns and the Embrey Dam. All participants must be 12 years or older. // City Dock Park: 101 Sophia St., Fredericksburg; $24-$30

Free Gymnastics Lesson
Saturday, July 25, 10 a.m.-noon

Local Nature Hike
Sunday, July 26, noon-3 p.m.

Sunday, July 26, 11-11:50 a.m.

Free Outdoor Sunday Night Yoga (Live Stream too)
Sunday, July 26, 7 p.m.

Eagle Challenge Virtual Run/Walk/Swim/Bike 2020
Through Thursday, July 30
Instead of joining a class, pick your own workout for the weekend with the Eagle Challenge. Help a good cause as you workout and track your miles to help raise money. All net proceeds will go toward local organizations that help families struggling through the pandemic. // Virtual; $5-$20
