As the pandemic continues, many people around the nation are looking for wellness tips, comfort, mental health advice and support. One Reston-based national breast cancer organization is meeting the community where it is.

Tigerlily Foundation recently launched a free, virtual programming series (open to everyone), focusing on health and wellness issues during the COVID-19 era. Called the “Pure Cat Initiative,” named after Catherine ‘Cat’ Odderstol, who recently passed from stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, the platform offers up to 14 programs a week.

Highlights include virtual meditation, Pilates, fitness training, yoga, “Pajama Glam DJ Nights” and Bollywood dancing. The initiative also includes health and wellness webinars from industry experts on mental health, managing anxiety, grief, understanding the immune system and supporting patients during treatment.

Each week Pilates is held on Mondays; a fitness class is held on Tuesdays, as well as meditation; Zumba and belly dancing take the stage on Wednesdays; yoga and ballet fitness are held on Thursdays; a fitness class is on Fridays, as well as the “Pajama Glam Sister Circle” event; on Saturdays there’s a virtual dance party; and Sundays wrap up the week with meditation and a sound bath.
