5 free yoga classes coming to Fairfax County soon

From basic breathing techniques to finding your ground, these local classes offer the chance to find if yoga could be right for you.

According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, yoga can help relieve stress, support good health habits and improve mental and emotional health, sleep and balance.

You’ve probably heard it all before, but why not try a local yoga class with no financial investment involved? Here’s where you can find your flow around Fairfax County for free, just don’t forget a towel or mat to get started.

Yoga on the Plaza
Saturdays until Aug. 31, 8:30-9:30 a.m.
If you’ve ever been curious about trying CorePower Yoga, the Fairfax Corner location hosts a weekly yoga class on the Fairfax Corner plaza every Saturday morning, where they encourage people of all fitness levels to get an hour-long stretch before the summer heat kicks in. // Fairfax Corner: 4100 Monument Corner Drive, Fairfax; free

Yoga in the Park
Sundays, 8 a.m.
This free yoga class won’t just have you going through the motions, it will also teach you a bit about breathing basics and give you a handful of tips on how to balance your mind and body through meditation. Kids Yoga
Saturdays, July 13, 9-10 a.m.
The benefits of balance and a clear mind aren’t just found in adults. According to a study published by Harvard Health, yoga can help kids with everything from classroom behavior to having a higher self-esteem. Yoga Saturdays at Springfield Cardinal Forest
Saturday, July 20, 9-11 a.m.

Yoga with Junior League
Wednesday, Aug. 7, 6 p.m.
The Junior League of Northern Virginia will host a free yoga session on the lawn in the Mosaic District (just steps away from Lululemon), with an informational session about the organization and its impact on the community.
