After four long years (or eight if you’re cheering for U.S. Soccer), it’s finally time to dive back into World Cup action. If you’re looking to get your football on, here are the can’t-miss World Cup events for fans of all ages.
If you’re OK with playing a little hooky, you should pull up a seat at Settle Down Easy Brewing. On November 20, the Falls Church location will show the 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. games, while the Oakton location will have a watch party for the USA v. Wales game on November 21, 1:30-4 p.m. 2822 Fairfax Dr., Falls Church; 2952 Chain Bridge Rd., Oakton
Cheer on Team USA from any of the Solace Brewing locations. All three bars are hosting U.S World Cup watch parties throughout group play (November 21, 25, and 29 at 2 p.m.). 42615 Trade West Dr., Ste. 100, Sterling; 444 West Broad St., Falls Church; 71 Potomac Ave. SE, Washington, DC
On November 25 at 11 a.m., the CYA Fieldhouse will have a watch party for the USA v. England match — full of games, prizes, and drinks. Make sure to grab your blanket and chairs to watch the rivalry on one of two 21-foot screens or reserve a VIP seating area for $95. VIP seating includes a Virginia Valor blanket, large cheese or pepperoni pizza, and four drinks. Preregister for VIP seating here. 14810 Murdock St., Chantilly
There’s no better way to kick off those early games than with a dozen sweet treats. Grab a special $32 box of World Cup-themed mini doughnuts beginning on November 21. The box includes doughnuts inspired by all participating countries in World Cup Group B. Pre-orders start November 18th and need to be placed at least 24 hours in advance. Each box includes Wales (apple crumble); Iran (tahini); Qatar (baklava); England (strawberries and cream); USA (vanilla glaze with star sprinkles); and two vanilla glaze doughnuts with green shredded coconut and a mini soccer ball. 7511 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church; 1308 G St. NW, Washington, DC
This DC bar is opening early on November 21 so fans can watch the first U.S. game in style. With an all-day happy hour, specials include $6 beers, $7 rail drinks, and $10 wine and house cocktails such as the Bustin’ Loose (bourbon, berry cayenne syrup, lemon juice, and ginger beer) and the Wassail (a spiked apple cider with the imbiber’s choice of bourbon, brandy, or rum). 3126 12th St. NE, Washington, DC
Nothing goes much better than pizza, soccer, and beer. Fans can play “Games in the Game Room” during all three opening U.S. games at the pizzeria’s Georgetown location. Deals include $20 for a 9-inch pizza and a draft beer, and a $35 “All You Can Eat Pizza” deal that include limitless pizza plus up to four select drafts. Guests will be able compete in arcade games, pinball, and more while watching their teams compete. The game room will open 30 minutes prior to kickoff on November 21, 25, and 29. 3282 M St. NW, Washington, DC
No matter what team you cheer for, you can catch them on the big screen at VA Revolution Sportsplex. Fans can show up for the Cameroon v. Brazil game on November 21 at 2 p.m.; USA v. Wales on November 22 at 2 p.m.; Belgium v. Canada on November 23 at 2 p.m. Games will be shown in the pavilion and food and drinks will be sold during halftime. 19623 Evergreen Mills Rd., Leesburg
