Here’s Where You Should Be Partying on New Year’s Eve in NoVA

There’s a celebration in NoVA to go to before, after, or even instead of, the house party hosted by your buddy from college.

Editor’s Note: COVID-19 case counts are rising as the pandemic continues to evolve heading into New Year’s Eve. Here are the CDC’s current recommendations on staying safe.

Whether you’re looking for a get-together with your friends, a romantic dinner date with the one you love, or want to keep it a little more chill and do something fun before heading home to ring in the new year in your pajamas, NoVA has got you covered. Check out these ideas for how to spend your New Year’s Eve.

35th Annual First Night Alexandria

Update: This event has been canceled in response to new COVID-19 guidelines. Here’s an event for those looking for a family-friendly New Year’s outing. Returning to Old Town Alexandra, this celebration supports the arts with a whole day and evening of entertainment! From Kid’s Celebrate, to Sassy Seniors Celebrate NYE, to a Countdown to 2022 Street Party, there is something on the agenda for each member of the family. 301 King St., Alexandria

New Year’s Eve Winter Lights Walk

Maybe this year you just want to do something a little more relaxed, where you can go at your own pace. The Franklin Park Arts Center’s Winter Lights Walk could be just the thing. During this event, you will have the opportunity to make your own lighted snowflake ornament, as well as wander through the art exhibit, Along for the Ride, before continuing outside to see the lighted sculptures of the Winter Lights Walk. Hot Cider will be on hand, but be sure to bring your own chairs or blanket because you won’t want to miss the Laser Light Show projected on the back wall of the Arts Center before the countdown to “midnight” taking place at 8 p.m. 36441 Blueridge View Ln., Purcellville

New Year’s Eve Dinner at Captain Gregory’s

Does dinner and drinks with the one you love sound like the perfect way to celebrate your year? Try the New Year’s Eve Dinner at Captain Gregory’s in Alexandria. For $49 a ticket, you and that someone special get a choice of two cocktails and one small plate each. Each ticket is for two hours, with both bar and lounge seating available. 804 N. Henry St., Alexandria

British New Year’s Eve Party

Want to channel your inner Brit? Look no further than Leesburg’s Vanish Brewery. With food specials, a British cover band, DJ Nathaniel Davis, and, of course, lots of delicious brews on hand, this British-themed New Year’s Eve party is bound to be “ace.” Be sure to get there early. The ball drops at their party at 7 p.m. 42245 Black Hops Ln., Leesburg
