Trailing Along
My other half and I have declared the upcoming warm months “Our Summer of Fitness.” But now that it’s not prohibitively cold, I’m voting to start early. I’ve gained pretty good footing of the region’s edible landscape so it’s time to explore its actual topography with an off-the-beaten-path hike or two. I’m going to start with Prince William Forest Park, where I read I’ll find some waterfalls, one of my favorite hiking highlights. // 18170 Park Entrance Road, Triangle –Alice Levitt, food editor/critic
Four!
After last week’s spring preview, I’m ready for those cold windy days to be gone. And with steady temps in the 40s and 50s this week, I’m getting outside and trying something new. I’m going to convince my quarantine pod to head to the park for a game of disc golf. I’ve tried the sport before when I was in middle school, but nothing too serious. It’ll be a nice and much needed change of pace from all of the drive-in events we have been attending throughout the year. –Michele Kettner, associate digital & research editor
Gotta Wear Shades
At the very beginning of the pandemic, I somehow lost my sunglasses. I’ve been wearing a pair of my husband’s shades for nearly a year now. They are too big and don’t look good, but since trying on a bunch of sunglasses at a store doesn’t feel super safe right now, I haven’t gotten a new pair. That ends now. We’re finally turning the corner on warm weather and I’m ready to be outside more. I’m going to order some online and hope I find a great fit. Cheers to sunnier days ahead! –Katie Bianco, editor
