Marshmallow Roast
I recently added a new fire pit to my outdoor setup and now that the cold winter has finally set in across the region it is time to break it in. While I do remember some tips from all of the Girl Scout camping trips as a kid, it’s safe to say that I’m a bit rusty. In order to build the perfect fire, I’m going to follow these tips and treat myself to a delicious marshmallow treat. – Michele Kettner, Associate Digital & Research Editor
Going Downhill
It’s my first winter after living in Texas for five years. Of course I need to go sledding! As soon as we get a white day, I’m planning on heading to Lake Fairfax Park in Reston to slide down the steepest hill I can find. – Alice Levitt, food editor/critic
Solo Vacation
Now that the holiday season is behind us, I am ready for some downtime. I’m dreaming of wrapping up in a robe, watching TV for hours and ordering room service at one of these luxe hotels. I’m not sure when I’ll actually get some time to myself (let alone enough time for a short staycation), but a girl can dream. In the meantime, I may dial up a happy hour at home from one of these local watering holes. –Katie Bianco, editor
