Say so long to strawberry season and hello to blueberry season. Soon enough, all of the region’s pick-your-own fields will be covered with plump, juicy blueberries, which are harvested between mid-June through July. Whether you’re looking to make a sweet treat or just can’t wait to dig into a handful of ripe berries, here’s where you can pick blueberries this summer.
Berry Good Farm
The pick-your-own blueberry season is a go at Berry Good Farm. You need to make an appointment to pick the plump berries at this Bealeton farm. The farm also sells local honey, jam, butters, and fruit cider to add to your haul. 6062 Dwyer Ln., Bealeton
Braehead Farm
Fruit, vegetable, and flower fields are open for the picking. In addition to sweet and juicy blueberries, in season crops include cauliflower, zucchini, and wildflowers. Open daily, the Fredericksburg farm has more than just fruit and vegetable fields. There’s also a family playground full of rope swings, slides, and rescue animals. Hollin Farms
The family-run farm features 40 acres of fruit and vegetable fields. After you’ve picked all the blueberries to your heart’s content, don’t forget to grab some lettuce, broccoli, and other vegetables, which are also in season. 1524 Snowden Rd., Delaplane
