If you still have Olympic fever, here’s your chance to meet some of NoVA’s local Olympians. Fairfax’s Brandon Kim, Washington, DC’s Conor McDermott-Mostowy, and other speedskaters will be at the Mount Vernon Rec Center for a special meet-and-greet.
Fairfax County Park Authority in partnership with United Capital Blades speedskating club will be hosting four Olympians from the Milan-Cortina Winter games. The free event is scheduled for Friday, March 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
Attendees can meet Team USA speedskating team members Kim, McDermott-Mostowy, Kristen Santos-Griswold, and Julie Letai. The event will include autographs and photos with the Olympians, plus a live demonstration of their skills on the ice.
After the demonstration, guests can also hit the ice in a speed skating session. The session is intended for ages 5 to 16, but all guests who can skate unassisted can participate. You will need to bring a helmet and gloves.
Registration is required in order to participate in the skating session. Mount Vernon Rec Center: 2017 Belle View Blvd., Alexandria
