Go Retro at These ’90s Themed Events in Northern Virginia and DC

These six nostalgic events include music, movies, and themed cocktails.

The ‘90s are back in a big way — from fashion to TV shows and music. If you love all things from the decade, mark on your calendar for these six ’90s events happening this spring. They include dance parties, a concert, a themed pop-up speakeasy, and more.

Back 2 the Video Store: A ‘90s Speakeasy Bar

Through March 15

After successful pop-ups in cities like New York and Miami, Back 2 the Video Store has come to DC. The ‘90s speakeasy-style bar at the National Union Building is video-store-themed and adorned with lava lamps, Pogs (remember those?), and TV and movie scenes turned into photos on the walls. Each ticket includes a 90-minute reservation and a Y2K-themed cocktail or mocktail. Other food and drinks will also be available for purchase. 918 F St. NW, Washington, DC

Rewind to Y2K

March 7, doors open at 7 p.m., show is at 8 p.m.

Grab your best friend and head to Jammin’ Java for a dance party featuring hits from the ‘90s and ‘00s. Relive songs from artists like Missy Elliott, Britney Spears, Eminem, and more. The all-ages event has DJ D, who will be spinning all the hits to take you down memory lane. 227 Maple Ave. East, Vienna

Now That’s What I Call Drag: ‘90s Edition

March 9, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

If you raced home for TRL every day after school, this is the event for you. Enjoy a throwback evening hosted by drag queens Makayla Starr and Orpheus Rose at Continues Arcade. There will be ‘90s games, Bingo, ‘90s-inspired cocktails, and even a costume contest (grab those Doc Martens!). There will be a dance party, too. North Fayette St., Alexandria

St Patrick’s ‘90s Ladies Night

March 12, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Winery at Sunshine Ridge Farm is hosting a ‘90s ladies’ night that will also celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. There will be drinks, prizes, shopping from local businesses, food trucks, and a DJ playing ‘90s hits. Guests are encouraged to wear green and enjoy a glass of wine, beer, or cider. Tickets will get you entry into a raffle and a drink. 15850 Sunshine Ridge Ln., Gainesville

A ‘90s Dance Party with the Bayside Tigers

March 14, doors open at 8 p.m., show is at 9 p.m.

Head to the State Theatre in Falls Church for a ‘90s Saved By the Bell–themed dance party. Enjoy all your favorite hits from the Spice Girls to the Backstreet Boys to Third Eye Blind and everything in between. Get jiggy with it and macarena all night long — and don’t forget your butterfly clips for your hair. 220 N. Washington St., Falls Church

‘90s Hip-Hop on Strings

April 12, 8:45 p.m.

Have you ever heard “Gin and Juice” on strings? Enjoy an evening of nostalgic favorites by candlelight from the Fugees, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, the Notorious B.I.G. and more at National City Christian Church in DC. The show is one hour and doors open 45 minutes before the show begins. 5 Thomas Circle NW, Washington, DC
