If you ask us, the best way to enjoy Northern Virginia’s beautifully decorated towns during the holidays is by horse-drawn carriage. All you need is a blanket, a steaming hot cup of cocoa, and a carriage full of loved ones to recreate some of your favorite movie memories. Here’s where you can enjoy a holiday carriage ride throughout Northern Virginia.

Reston Town Center

November 28–29, December 6, 13, and 20, times vary

As you finish your holiday shopping, make sure to save some time to squeeze in a carriage ride. Round up a group of up to six people to enjoy the twinkling lights and festive displays around Reston Town Center. Reservations will available one week before each event. All proceeds go to area charities. 11900 Market St., Reston

Lansdowne Town Center

Carriage rides and Santa are a perfect holiday combination. The old-fashioned carriage ride will kick off the holiday season in Lansdowne. After the ride, make sure your kids get a picture with Santa and share their wish lists. The first 50 kids in attendance will receive a special treat. Guests should arrive early, as the event expects a crowd. 19373 Promenade Dr., Leesburg, free

Middleburg

As if Middleburg wasn’t the perfect Christmas town already, these carriage rides take it over the top. Pack some hot cocoa and grab a blanket to enjoy the charming scenery scattered throughout downtown. After your ride, grab photos with the beautiful horses. The Middleburg Museum: 8 N. Madison St., Middleburg, $40 for up to four riders

Manassas

Take in the decorations by horse-drawn carriage. During the first three Sundays of the month, the city will host free carriage rides around town. Reservations open on December 1 at 10:30 a.m. Manassas Railroad Depot: 9431 West St., Manassas, free

Winchester Old Town Winter Village

Saturday, December 6, noon to 6 p.m.
