Find High-Flying Fun at the Leesburg Air Show

Aviation enthusiasts will love the exhibits and afternoon aerobatic performance.

The Leesburg Air Show will be offering aviation exhibits, educational activities, and aerobatic performances on Saturday, September 27. The fun kicks off at 11 a.m. at the Leesburg Executive Airport.

A collection of both antique and modern aircraft will be on display. The featured static display plane for this year will be the “Spirit of Freedom” Douglas C-54 Skymaster. The plane was part of the 1948 to 1949 Berlin Airlift. Guests can have a chance to get on board the plane to see what a post-World War II aircraft looks like.

Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum Explainers Program will be on hand to give demonstrations on the science and technology of space exploration and aeronautics. And make sure to stick around or get to the show at 1 p.m. for an aerobatic performance by The Flying Circus, Warbird Thunder Airshows, and others.

Admission is free, and satellite parking will be available at Heritage High School and Segra Field. Complimentary shuttles will run starting at 10:45 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the weather — the show may be modified or canceled due to storms.

There will be food and drink vendors, including local craft beer from Loudoun Brewing Co. for purchase. For kids, there will be inflatable slides, face painting, and the opportunity to get meet the daredevil pilots and wing walkers in the 1 p.m. aerobatics show.

Events coordinator Corey Lemons is enthusiastic about the show and encourages everyone to come check it out. “At the Leesburg Airshow, you’ll be treated to high-flying aerobatics, engaging exhibits on the ground, and delicious food,” Lemon says. “We’re excited to welcome everyone to our incredible airport and can’t wait to see you there.”
