Alexandria City High School to Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of ‘Remember the Titans’

The school will be honoring the legacy of the 1971 T.C. Williams High School football team 54 years after their historic state championship.

Disney’s hit movie Remember the Titans is turning 25 this month. The film spotlighted the 1971 T.C. Williams High School football team as they finished the season undefeated, winning the Virginia State High School Championship.

On September 19, Alexandria City High School (formerly T.C. Williams High School) is joining in on the celebration with a pre-game event, Remembering the Titans: 25 Years Later, to honor the legacy of their championship-winning team.

The celebration kicks off with a Titans Tailgate in the school’s main gym starting at 5:30 p.m. The free event will include giveaways, fun activities, and remarks from school and community leaders.

After the tailgate, make your way to Parker-Gray Memorial Stadium. A pre-game tribute honoring the 1971 T.C. Williams High School football team will take place at mid-field before the Titans take on John Lewis High School at 7 p.m.

Tickets are required to attend the pre-game ceremony and football game and are $6 for students and $8 for general admission. Those who can’t attend can watch the broadcast live or catch a recorded version at a later date.
