5 Places in NoVA to Try Your Hand at Jewelry Making

Try these classes where students can make upcycled earrings, learn about stringing and crimping, enameling on metal, and more.

Who doesn’t love a gorgeous pair of earrings or a quirky necklace? For those who have admired from afar, you can learn to make your own jewelry. Whether you’re a jewelry-making novice or a seasoned veteran, here are five places to learn how to make your own earrings, rings, necklaces, and bracelets.

Alexandria Art League

The Alexandria Art League offers multiple jewelry-making classes, including enameling on metal, and jewelry for beginners. The venue also has summer camps in jewelry making for ages 9 to 12 and a jewelry workshop for people 13 and older. 105 N. Union St., Alexandria, prices vary

Del Ray Artisans Mix and Match Upcycle Earrings Workshop

An upcoming June class lets guests make their own upcycled mix-and-match earrings. Participants can make up to two pairs of custom earrings using upcycled and vintage materials. Supplies are provided, but you can bring earrings that have lost partners or clip-ons to convert. Under instructor Megan Levanduski, students will learn basic jewelry-making techniques. No experience is necessary to participate. 2704 Mount Vernon Ave., Alexandria, $30 for members, $40 for non-members

Leesburg Beads & Studio

This studio has multiple classes, including earring “make-n-take” classes and a beginner’s introduction to stringing and crimping. Plan a girls’ night out party or birthday outing. 12 Sycolin Rd., SE, Leesburg, prices vary

Star’s Beads

Jewelry lovers flock to the 1,200-square-foot store, which features freshwater pearls, seed beads, high-end, semi-precious stones, and chain sold by the foot. Classes like Bead with Me are on Facebook and YouTube. 139A Church St., NW, Vienna

Wear Ever Jewelry

Instead of buying your jewelry straight from the store, Wear Ever Jewelry will allow you to be part of the jewelry-making process to customize something that you’ll love. With classes available almost every day, guests can choose from a variety of options including Jewelry Making Basics and Couples Ring Making Class. 1112 King St., First Floor, Alexandria
