Get Crafty at These Valentine’s-Themed Classes and Workshops

Whether it’s for a date or a girls night out, these classes are a fun way to celebrate the holiday.

By Maggie Roth February 8, 2024 at 10:52 am

Get your creative juices flowing this season with a crafty Valentine’s class. It’s the perfect opportunity for a Galentine’s Day outing or a fun date night. You’ll get to try your hand at making or decorating a dessert, creating your own floral bouquet, or painting a new piece of art. Of course, you’ll need to reserve your spot to participate.

Fran’s Cake and Candy

Multiple dates

Learn to decorate cookies, cakes, or chocolates — the choice is yours at Fran’s. This cake supply shop offers several hands-on pastry decorating classes that are themed around Valentine’s Day, including Valentine’s Day cake pops on February 12 and “Honey Bee Mine” cookies on February 10. Prices vary

Cooking Demo: Bailey’s and Bonbons

February 11, 1–3 p.m.

Chocolates taste better when you make them with someone you love. This class will teach you how to create specialty bonbons using different flavors of Baileys liqueur, and at the end you’ll go home with a box of gourmet chocolates and a recipe card to make them at home. Harrimans Virginia Piedmont Grill: 500 N. Pendleton St., Middleburg, $50

Wine Cork Heart Wreath

February 11, 1–3 p.m.

Create a cute decoration for your front door out of recycled wine corks. You can either bring your own collection of corks, or the hosts will provide them. You’ll create a heart-shaped wreath with ribbons and embellishments, and the class comes with a glass of wine to sip on while you work. Good Spirit Farm Winery: 35113 Snickersville Tpk., Round Hill, $45

Floral Design Basics: Small Floral Arrangement

February 13, 6–8 p.m.

Create your own bouquet at Shop Made in VA with this floral arrangement class. Florists from PM Floral will guide participants through the basics of floral arrangement. Everything you need is included, and you’ll walk away with your own wrapped bouquet. Shop Made in VA: 1121 King St., Alexandria, $150

Paint Nite at Aslin

February 13, 6:30–8:30 p.m.

This Galentine’s Day, Aslin Beer Co. is hosting a paint night with Happy Trees Entertainment. No matter your level of experience, you can get creative with a guided painting while sipping on one of Aslin’s craft brews. Aslin Beer Co.: 847 S. Pickett St., Alexandria, $49

Penthouse Paint n Sip: Valentine’s Edition

February 17, 2–3:30 p.m.

At this paint and sip event, you’ll create a “Banksy-inspired” painting with a Valentine’s theme. During the event, participants will enjoy snacks like charcuterie and cookies, as well as their choice of wine, prosecco, mimosas, teas, and coffee. Reston Station: 1908 Reston Metro Plz., Reston, $65
