Start practicing your Lego building skills because Bricks by the Lake is coming to Reston on January 27.
The brick-building competition will gather Lego enthusiasts from around the region, with activities running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the competition, judging, and awards running from noon to 1:45 p.m.
The contest is open to participants ages 5 and older, and each age group will build to one of the particular themes. Contestants are allowed to bring their own legos, but all bricks must be separated on arrival, as all construction is only permitted during the allotted time.
The initial entry fee is $50, which includes a spot to participate in the competition (up to four team members qualify for one entry) and 500 bricks to keep. For $150, competitors will also receive a preorder brick kit. All proceeds from the competition will go toward the Reston Museum.
If you aren’t looking to compete, there are plenty of other fun activities coming to the Reston community. At the Reston Museum, visitors can enjoy free play and drive Robo Trooper’s robot, and at Reston Art Gallery & Studios, everyone can enjoy free themed crafts.
Other local businesses are also offering brick-themed goods and activities. Chesapeake Chocolates will sell brick-themed chocolates, Liquid Jewels Piercing Studio will allow visitors to add graffiti to its mini brick wall, and OmBaked CBD Boutique will give a free packet of Focus Gummies with every $31 transaction.
