5 Things to Do on Labor Day in Northern Virginia

A car show and a kids’ festival are among the ways to spend your day off.

By Michele Kettner August 28, 2023 at 10:07 am

Whenever there is a three-day weekend, it can be hard to decide what to do with all that extra time off. Instead of filling your day with errands, make time to enjoy one of the fun events happening in NoVA on Labor Day.

Labor Day Car Show

September 4, 8 a.m.–3 p.m.

The annual car show is back! The streets of historic Fairfax will be full of over 200 show cars from 24 different manufacturers, including antiques, muscle cars, motorcycles, and custom designs. 4081 University Dr., Fairfax, free

Labor Day Yoga at Lost Boy Cider

September 4, 10–11 a.m.

Start your extra day off with a little bit of relaxation. Enjoy an hour of vinyasa before throwing back a post-class beverage of your choice. 317 Hooffs Run Dr., Alexandria, $25

LoCo Kids Fest

September 4, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Spend the last day of unofficial summer with your little ones. The second annual festival is set to feature a petting zoo, touch-a-truck area that features public safety vehicles, live music, and food trucks. 42095 Loudoun United Dr., Leesburg, free

All Day Labor Day Party

September 4, 11 a.m.–10 p..m.

It’s a party the whole family can enjoy. Shipgarten will have plenty of fun, from live music and outdoor games to moonbounces and face painting. Plus, the adults can try samples of over 40 different beers and ciders from area breweries. 7581 Colshire Dr., McLean, free admission

Kids’ Cardboard Boat Regatta

September 4, 11:30 a.m.–5 p.m.

Kids from 6 to 16 will test their building skills at the City of Manassas Park’s Cardboard Boat Regatta. Traverse the lazy river to see if your boat has what it takes to make it to the finish line. All boats need to be registered by August 28. Admission passes are included when you register and can be purchased at the door. 9300 Signal View Dr., Manassas Park, $30 for one-person boat, $40 for two-person boat
