These Indoor Pools and Waterparks Will Make You Forget About Winter

Mother Nature might be in the thick of winter, but you can pretend it’s summer with a quick dip and splash around these indoor pools.

By Michele Kettner January 19, 2022 at 12:40 pm

Updated January 23, 2025. It may only be January, but I’m sure we’re all counting down the days to summer. While we’re still a few months out from the summer sun, there’s no need to wait to throw on the bathing suit and hit the water. Instead, plan a trip to one of Northern Virginia’s indoor swimming pools and waterparks for instant seasonal fun.

Claude Moore Recreation & Community Center

The leisure pool CMRC is every child’s dream. From the giant looping water slide to the aquatic playground, the kids will want to spend all winter splashing around in this pool. Plus, parents will love the hot tub and 50-meter competition pool when the kids are off at school. 46105 Loudoun Park Ln., Sterling

Cub Run Rec Center

Pack up the family and escape the winter chill with a trip to Fairfax’s larger-than-life indoor waterpark. The rec center features a competition pool, spa, and leisure pool, which includes water slides, a lazy river, and other play features for the kids (and children at heart). 4630 Stonecroft Blvd., Chantilly

Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center

With the competition pool open seven days a week, you can almost always drop in for a quick swim. Visitors heading to the leisure pool will be in awe of the twisting water slide, beach entry, and an overlooking spa for the parents. The Prince William fitness center also features racquetball courts, strength training, and spin classes for those out-of-water workouts. 9100 Freedom Center Blvd., Manassas

Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center

This $60 million indoor pool has something for the entire family. Whether you are planning on swimming laps in the 50-meter pool or want to relax on the lazy river, you can get in your much needed pool time this winter. 333 Long Bridge Dr., Arlington

Round Hill Indoor Aquatic Center

Those looking to work on their freestyle and breaststroke should head to this quaint indoor pool. The four-lane lap pool is the perfect place for swimmers looking to improve their fitness, master their skills, or try a low-impact fitness program. 17010 Evening Star Dr., Round Hill

Yorktown Aquatics Center

The Yorktown Aquatics Center is a staple in the Arlington community. Those looking to take a dip in the eight-lane competition pool also have the option to head over to the diving area to try out the one-meter springboards. The facility also has a separate instructional pool for those little ones still learning how to swim. 5200 Yorktown Blvd., Arlington
