Health Foodie?
“Now that my 50 Best Restaurants list is done, I’m trying to cut back a bit–but let’s face it, I can’t live without an occasional dessert. One way I plan to lighten up is to limit gluten for a while. When I do splurge, I’ll be visiting The Difference Baker in Ashburn to find some allergen-free pastries.” –Alice Levitt, food editor/critic

Kitchen Craze
“I’m a sucker for cooking shows, especially as we enter the holiday season. While all of Food Network’s baking shows are a must, I also love sitting down to catch up on MasterChef. Whether it’s home chefs or pre-teen cooks, I’m always amazed at what they can stir up. This weekend, the show is bringing some of its former contestants to DC for a live demonstration, so you know I’m there.” –Michele Kettner, associate digital & research editor

Decking the Halls
“I love decorating, especially for the holidays, and am starved for opportunities in my not-huge apartment. So I’ll get my fix at the Old Lucketts Store’s Holiday Design House, which opens November 11. I’ve been wanting to check out the shop anyway, and now that it’s decked out in themed ornamentation, I can’t wait.” –Kelly Kendall, editor

Knock Out
“KO Distilling has taken another leap this year, and I’m hoping they’re successful in their efforts at expansion. Touring the distillery–and particularly visiting the tasting room, as homey as any neighborhood bar–is worth the trip to Manassas.” –James Finley, senior editor
