Loudoun Arts Drive-In Film Festival to be held in Middleburg this fall

Being hosted at 50 West Vineyards, the festival will be held on multiple weekends and has virtual options too.

By now, you’ve heard the news about drive-in movie theaters making a comeback. But now, a drive-in film festival is coming to Northern Virginia (with virtual options too!).

The Loudoun Arts Film Festival, presented by Artistic Fuel and in partnership with Loudoun Arts and 50 West Vineyards, will launch online on Thursday, Aug. 27 and continue with drive-in movie screenings at 50 West Vineyards on the weekends of Sept. 10 to 13, and Sept. 17 to 19.

The inaugural festival, originally conceived as an in-person event, pivoted quickly to accommodate the realities of the coronavirus era.

“We were faced with a tough decision,” Kaeley Boyle, co-founder and festival director, said in a recent press release. “We had already lined up an ambitious schedule for a first-year festival, and then along came COVID. But we decided to make it work.”

The drive-in event will host a total of five hours of entertainment on Thursdays and four hours Fridays through Sundays. Tickets are $50 for general admission and $75 for VIP tickets, which include a prepared meal from Market Salamander delivered to your vehicle. Food trucks will also be on-site from Ford’s Fish Shack, Red’s BBQ and Bilstad’s Beignets.

The second weekend of the festival will see the unveiling of the COVID-19 Honor and Memorial quit, which has the mission to inspire people across America to express gratitude to medical professionals and first responders working on the front lines fighting COVID-19.
