Ballston Quarter launches giveaway special, Summer of Surprises

Starting this week, make your way to Ballston Quarter for free sweet treats offered by locally owned businesses.

By Jess Feldman July 14, 2020 at 2:42 pm

Come the hot, humid days of summer here in Northern Virginia, there are very few things that satisfy as much as ice cream. And, this July, you can quench your thirst while cooling down with some soft serve, and also save some money in the process, thanks to Ballston Quarter’s recently launched Summer of Surprises.

The new initiative—inspired by a desire to bring a little joy to the community right now—will give local residents the chance to indulge in free desserts on select dates throughout the summer, courtesy of Ballston Quarter businesses.

The special will kick off on Friday, July 17 with Sidekick Bakery distributing celebration cakes for all the summer babies who didn’t get a proper birthday celebration due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19. Then, later this month, visitors can indulge in ice cream pints and gift certificates from Ice Cream Jubilee on Friday, July 24, as well as funfetti doughnuts in honor of recent graduates from District Doughnut on Friday, July 31. All giveaways start at 1:30 p.m. and will continue until supplies run out.

If you can’t attend on any of the three July dates, don’t panic: Ballston Quarter is planning a few more surprises for August, with details to be announced at a later date. // Ballston Quarter: 4238 Wilson Blvd., Arlington
