Brace yourselves for excitement: Fairfax Comic Con is returning to NoVA.

On Saturday, Aug. 24 and Sunday, Aug. 25, at the Dulles Expo Center, comic book fans from near and far will gather for a family-friendly celebration of comic books and cosplay.

Attendees can expect to see some of their favorite superheroes and comic book characters come to life, whether it’s catching Batman in the crowd or getting a meet-and-greet with well-known artists and actors in the comic-sphere.

The event will host comic book artists, such as Jae Lee, known for his illustration and cover art for Marvel Comics and DC Comics (Superman, Batman, Cat Woman, etc.), as well as Jamal Igle, creator of the comic book series Molly Danger.

Randall P. Havens, better known as Mr. Clarke on Netflix’s Stranger Things, will be in attendance for the weekend and there will be photo ops available (be sure to check the schedules upon arrival), as well as actress and writer Monica Rail, known for her role as Bulma in Dragon Ball Super, a Japanese animated series that debuted in 2015, and Dragon Ball Super: Broly, a follow-up movie released in November 2018.

Make sure to dress for the occasion and enter the cosplay contest, too. Attendees can enter their originally crafted costumes to one of the three categories: Best Adult Cosplay (14 and older), Best Group Cosplay and Best Kid Cosplay (13 and younger). Winners will receive trophies, cash prizes and swag bags filled with vendor items.

Local and regional vendors will also be selling comic books and fan gear throughout the weekend. Get your weekend passes here. // Dulles Expo Center: 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center, Chantilly; $20-$50
