14 alternative treats to enjoy this Halloween

Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken
Dig in to some spooky looking doughnuts from Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken. Throughout October, Astro Doughnuts will craft a box of mini Halloween doughnuts (with 24 hours notice) that include three candy apple doughnuts, three Dulce de Leche doughnuts, three vanilla glaze doughnuts with “scary eyes” and three cookie dough on a plain yeast doughnut. A limited number will be available for walk-ins on Halloween; $23
Ritz Carlton Pentagon City
Candy Corn can be enjoyed on its own, or as a key ingredient in the Blavod Black vodka Halloween cocktail at the Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City. This Candy Corn infused Blavod Black vodka martini has pineapple juice, black sugar on the rim and a Candy Corn garnish; $10

The Ritz Carlton will have an extra treat for those who order their Halloween with a Clicquot Twist drink (Cognac, Grand Marnier, Veuve, Clicquot Brut Champagne). With purchase of the cocktail, guests will be gifted a Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label; $22
Brabo Brasserie
Brabo Brasserie has a special dish for Halloween from chef Sebastian Rondier, roasted pumpkin moules frites; $15 for half portion, $22 for a full portion
BABA
BABA looks to cast a spell over its patrons with the Devil Magic cocktail, which has 0.75 ounces of tequila, 0.75 ounces of mescal, 1 ounce sour mix, 0.5 ounces of Hibiscus syrup and a garnish of salty foam; $10

Reston’s Red’s Table will have a pair of special Halloween deserts available through Nov. 1 from pastry chef Dave Weir. The first is the Halloween ice cream, which spins classic candy into the housemade American style vanilla ice cream; $3 for single scoop, $7 for triple scoop

The second desert at Red’s Table will be the peanut butter pie: Red’s Table’s housemade chocolate shortbread cookie crust topped with a layer of 70 percent Valrhona chocolate ganache and silky smooth peanut butter custard; $8

Red’s Table will also have special cocktails for all Hallow’s Eve. The Scarlet Letter is a mix of strawberry lemonade, Tito’s vodka, Triple Sec and strawberry Twizzlers; $9

Taco Bamba
Candy is not dinner, so feed the whole family with a Family Box from Taco Bamba. At all of its Virginia locations, Taco Bamba will offer a box ready for pick-up on Oct. 31 that feeds six to eight with a dozen tacos, chips, guacamole, rice and beans, and brownies. A luchador mask is also included for last minute costumes. Orders must be placed by Oct. 28; $68
Occidental Grill & Seafood
Get tangled in Occidental Grill & Seafood’s Web of Death—Blue Dyer dark rum with cardamaro, Frangelico, lemon, egg white, apple bitters, activated charcoal and garnished with a web of powdered sugar; $13
City Winery
City Winery has devised its own special brew, the Violette Witch, which is 2 ounces of Tanqueray gin, 1 ounce Creme De Violette, 0.5 ounces lemon juice, two pinches of Wilton Baking Silver pearly dust, shaken and poured over ice and garnished with an orange wheel and Halloween straw; $13
Buffalo & Bergen
Kids often dress up as superheroes for Halloween, but adults can drink a pair of superhero-themed drinks at Buffalo & Bergen. The Storm’s Brew (pictured) is spiked with Flor de Cana rum, Myer’s dark rum, activated charcoal, lime and ginger; Claws Out features Illegal mezcal, pineapple, lime, tropical “punch” and smoked salt; $9-$12
