Show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month with these events

Whether you choose to walk, run or even dance, these are the events that will get you moving for a good cause.

Fifth Annual Walk it Out! Breast Cancer Awareness Walk
Oct. 13, 8:30-11 a.m.
Attendees are encouraged to wear pink to this 3-mile walk, which benefits the Vola Lawson Breast Cancer Memorial Fund of Alexandria. // Oakland Baptist Church: 3408 King St., Alexandria; $10

Haymarket Police Department’s Breast Cancer Awareness Walk
Oct. 13, 9 a.m.-noon
The $25 registration fee and any other funds raised from this event will go right back to the local community, supporting those whose lives have been impacted by cancer. // 14604 Washington St., Haymarket; $25

Sixth Annual Race for Every Woman 5K
Oct. 13, 9 a.m.
Organized by Alpha Breast Cancer Support Services, which aims to educate disadvantaged women about breast cancer prevention, rehabilitation and cures, proceeds from this event will support efforts to purchase mammography devices for Eritrea and Ethiopia. // Barcroft Park: 4200 S. Walk to Bust Cancer
Oct. 14, 8 a.m.-noon
With the hope of increasing awareness and celebrating survivors, this National Breast Center Foundation event will feature not only a walk, but also a DJ, moon bounce and dance and exercise stations. // Fort Hunt Park: 8999 Fort Hunt Road, Alexandria; $15-$35

Breast Cancer & Exercise Awareness Walk
Oct. 14, 9-11 a.m.
Sponsored by 2Unstoppable, at this free walk supporting those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, Bryant Johnson, Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s personal trainer, will make a special appearance. // Burke Lake Park Marina: 7315 Ox Road, Fairfax Station; free

Donuts & Detection
Oct. 19, 7:30-10:30 a.m.
Start your day off with a doughnut and a 3D imaging breast cancer screening via the Sentara Northern Virginia Mammography Van. // Duck Donuts: 15101 Potomac Town Place, Suite 140, Woodbridge; Free

Phenomenal Women & Men Breast Cancer & Heart Walk
Oct. 20, 9-11 a.m.
This 1-, 2- and 3-mile walk/run not only supports people with breast cancer, but also those with heart disease. Proceeds will benefit the American Heart Association as well as the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. // West Potomac High School: 6500 Quander Road, Alexandria; $5 donations per mile

Zumba Party in Pink
Oct. 20, 3-5 p.m.
Get your grove on for a good cause with a $10 donation supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation. // The Fitness Equation: 44693 Brimfield Drive, Ashburn; $10 donation

Second Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Brunch
Oct. 21, 1-4 p.m.
Girlfriends in the Burbs, which seeks to bring together and empower Northern Virginia women of color, is hosting a family-style brunch buffet to celebrate breast cancer survivors and raise awareness. Oct. 27, 11:30 a.m.
Organized by the Tigerlily Foundation—check out this profile on its founder, Maimah Karmo—this breast cancer awareness event steps outside the box by getting people up and moving through a choreographed dance to the song “Raise Your Glass” by P!nk. // Lincoln Memorial: 2 Lincoln Memorial Circle NW, Washington, D.C.; Free
