While burgundy and gold is always in style for the Washington Redskins and their fans, let the players show off what else you can be wearing this fall as they take a break from the gridiron and head down the catwalk. For the fourth year, a number of players, coaches and their wives will participate in the Washington Redskins Runway Show at Bloomingdale’s in Tysons Corner, an event that supports the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21.
Players including Josh Norman, Alex Smith, Vernon Davis, Tress Way, Dustin Hopkins, Colt McCoy, Zach Vigil and Nick Sundberg will walk the runway to raise funds to the Redskins’ charity which supports children’s programs throughout the Metro-D.C. area. According to Kiersten Allen, chair of the event and wife of Redskins’ president Bruce Allen, the Redskins Runway Show has raised more than $300,000 for the foundation in its three years of existence.
“It’s a great family affair,” Allen says. “Everyone loves seeing the Redskins having fun. They really get the crowd going, and it’s all for a great cause.”
Guests will have the chance to mingle with the players during a reception with catered food from event sponsor Cuisine Solutions, then the fashion show will begin around 7:15 p.m. with players wearing clothes from Karen Mille, Maje, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Theory, Ted Baker, Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren. Bloomingdales, which has hosted the event every year, also contributes to the Redskins Charitable Foundation by donating 10 percent of all sales that take place during the event.
A silent auction will also be held to help raise funds. Among some of the packages available for bidding is a weekend getaway to Duck, North Carolina; a night of bowling with a trio of Redskins; tours of the Redskins’ facility with Doug Williams; lunch with coach Greg Manusky; suite tickets to a Maroon 5 concert at the Capital One Arena; autographed jerseys and more.
Burgundy package tickets are still available for purchase, which includes a ticket to the show, access to the reception and a $100 swag bag. // redskins.com/community/runway-show
