You can visit these spas safely right now

Working from home, managing your kids’ virtual learning and dealing with the isolation and ennui of pandemic life is more than enough to make anyone stressed. Book a massage at one of these spas that have adapted to provide a safe and stress-relieving treatment.

The first DMV location of The Now Massage, designed to offer luxury services in an accessible manner, recently opened in Ashburn’s One Loudoun lifestyle complex with fastidious COVID-era safety and sanitization. Guests can select from three signature massage styles paired with optional custom enhancements like scalp renewal; herbal heat therapy; and gua sha, a traditional Chinese medicine technique using rose quartz. An optional membership offers monthly or bimonthly packages with reduced pricing and VIP benefits. // From $45

Guests can expect limited occupancy in the pool and steam room at The Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner, staggered appointments and masks during popular treatments like the 80-minute Mall Recovery Massage, which is also perfect for alleviating aching muscles from crouching over your laptop. Holiday promotions include the Merry Berry Back Polish & Body Glow; the Hot Toddy Stone Relief Massage; and Cozy Spiced Cider Pedicure, which combines stimulating baking spices with an exfoliating brown sugar scrub, nourishing paraffin treatment and hydrating spiced cider lotion. // From $125

The Salamander Resort & Spa (pictured at top) in Middleburg is offering a whole host of massage options including a CBD Relief Massage, to release muscle tension and mobilize joints, and a Fall Rebalancing Massage, which starts with a grounding foot ritual, followed by a full-body skin brushing, medium-pressured Swedish massage, scalp work with essential oils and an abdominal massage, and finishing with a focus on the feet. Boost any massage with add-ons like Arnica Gel Relief or hot stones. // From $215

Staff at the Lansdowne Resort & Spa in Leesburg are certified in infection prevention and control, offering 50-minute relaxing massages with light to medium pressure. The Swedish-style Relaxation Massage is a classic option; the Breathe Easy Massage uses a blend of hyssop, ravintsara, cajeput and sweet thyme essential oils to decongest and help you emotionally let go; an Immunity Massage supports the immune system and provides increased vitality via a blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon and rosemary oil, and the Seasonal Massage uses a blend of oils curated by a local alchemist. // From $160

The Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa in Alexandria is operating with limited business hours and enhanced protocols including temperature checks, time limits for guests and cleaning and disinfecting between treatments. The Swedish Aroma Massage soothes mind, body and soul with Zents aromatherapy oils; the Deep Therapeutic Massage uses deep pressure and ointments to relieve chronic pain and restore the body’s muscle system; and the Rose Quartz Massage relaxes the body and centers the mind via two rose quartz stones and aromatherapy oils. // From $115
