Destination: Located in Arlington just down Wilson Boulevard, Covet is a one-stop shop for the gifts you love to give and get.
Atmosphere: Tucked away in a quaint old house that was once an insurance agency, this adorable boutique is a store where the exterior does not prepare you for the pleasantries you will find within. With a light and whimsical air, Covet makes you feel right at home as though you just walked into your best friend’s beautifully decorated house with delicate and thoughtful décor.
Bread and Butter: With about 80 percent of the store being sourced through Etsy’s wholesale website, a customer is sure to find a unique gift. Items range from local finds such as Sydney Hale Co.’s candles and home fragrances from Purcellville to San Diego resident JaxKelly’s gemstone-inspired earrings. A customer will be sure to find the right kind of hand-crafted gift.
Sweet Surprises: Owner, Autumn Clayton, is the sweetest surprise in all of Covet’s vast collection of goods. Her willingness to help customers, attentiveness and determination to get to know the person behind the product she is selling is as rare as the items carried in-store.
Fiercest Fan: A little bit of something for everybody. As Clayton explains, “I don’t think I have any one ideal customer. Whether it is a husband coming in to look for something for his wife, or a woman looking for the perfect thing for her friend’s 40th birthday or her teenage niece; I want to help find something different that will appeal to them.”
Blows to the Budget: Items range from $40-$85, from quirky cards or charming knickknacks to stunning jewelry. If you are really looking to spend, pop art paintings are offered by various artists, such as Sabrina Cobada, for $900-$1200. –Cate Jensen
