When the weather outside is miserable and rainy, it’s easy to throw style to the side while we scramble to stay warm. A perfect way to stay warm without sacrificing some semblance of fashion is to deliberately layer items that can be added or removed for a cohesive yet transformable look. We show you how to layer from the bottom to the top for a chic and cozy ensemble.
Step One:

Start with a thin layer to trap in heat without making you sweat. Opt for a t-shirt with heat-trapping technology or a fun button-down to add a pop of print and texture under the next layer.

Step Two:

The goal of this layer is to provide insulation while still making a visually exciting statement. A graphic sweatshirt, cropped knit and a relaxed crewneck are all must-have items to add to your layered look.

Step Three:

The top layer should have the ability to be easily removed so that you can adjust to the climate whether indoors or outdoors. Think polished tuxedo vests, luxe fur and comfy cardigans.

Step Four:

Finally, protect yourself from the precipitation in a waterproof parka or a fur-trimmed puffer coat. If you crave a more sophisticated look, try on a wool overcoat.

Add the finishing touches by piling on accessories that are fashion-forward yet functional.
