Unless you plan on wearing your Halloween costume for more than a weekend, chances are it’s a waste of money. Instead of spending your savings on another variation of a cat costume or sexy option, consider dressing up as one of the fashion idols you look up to in the industry. The bonus is that you’ll save money and you probably already have these pieces in your closet. Here, you can check out how to dress like Anna Wintour, Jenna Lyons and the Olsen twins. This might be the closest you’ll get to being one of those style-setters, but it’s always fun to pretend even just for a little while.
Trying to emulate Anna Wintour is nearly impossible. Her impressive resume and list of accomplishments are something women dream of achieving. The Editor-in-Chief of Vogue can usually be seen in a colorful patterned dress, short gemstone necklaces and her infamous black Chanel sunglasses. For your Halloween costume, take a cue from the outfit above and just add the current issue of Vogue (although you might want to spring for a blonde wig in the EIC’s signature style) for your best accessory to dress up as the most-watched woman in fashion.

Jenna Lyons is the powerhouse behind the J.Crew brand. She has mastered the art of mixing unexpected patterns and materials to create a fashionable look as seen here. However, she is also known for her chic menswear focused outfits as well. For this Halloween costume, reach for your menswear inspired pieces such as your favorite blazer and boyfriend jeans. Lyons can be seen sporting her black frames and a red lip, so don’t forget to check those off of your to-do list while getting ready.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are not only fashionistas, but they are well-respected designers too. They spend their time working on their collections for The Row and Elizabeth and James among their many other projects. There isn’t a look that these two can’t pull off–from baggier silhouettes to more tailored options, they are always ahead of the fashion game. For your Halloween costumes, ask a friend to dress up either as Mary-Kate or Ashley with you. Add a Starbucks drink and you both will be channeling your inner Olsen for the night.
