I believe that I am not fully dressed in the mornings without a quick spritz of perfume. In fact, I enjoy a good fragrance so much that I have given myself a personal rule of never wearing the same scent twice. There are so many options out there why limit myself to one ‘signature scent.’
Because of this, I sniff and spray almost any perfume I can get my hands on, which led me to test Tocca ‘Brigitte’ ($68/ 1.7 oz) during a random trip to pick up mascara. Inspired by the carefree, yet glamorous, lifestyle of Brigitte Bardot the fragrance combines notes of ginger, papaya, iris, white musk and Moroccan rose for a mix that comes off powerful yet sweet.
Initially the scent is warm and somewhat sugary, which is probably the result of a secret note of the Italian pastry ‘Pannetone.’ After some wear, the fragrance fades into a floral with hints of sandalwood and saffron that creates a complex and balanced composition eventually ending in a final crisp, clean note. This scent is perfect for the office or a date night because it is sophisticated and strong, but not too overpowering.
Brigitte is a part of a collection of fine fragrances by Tocca inspired by women throughout history, including Cleopatra and Grace Kelly, and can be purchased at Sephora or local favorite Bellacara. -Angela Bobo
